Abstract

Individual differences between performance on the Verbal vs the Spatial, the Verbal vs the Perceptual speed, and the Spatial vs the Perceptual speed factors obtained from a battery of 15 cognitive abilities tests were calculated for Americans of European ancestry and Americans of Japanese ancestry in the Hawaii Family Study of Cognition. Spouse, parent-offspring, and sibling resemblances on these difference scores (i.e. on the shapes of the cognitive abilities profiles) were all as high or higher than the familial resemblances for the separate abilities factors.
