Intern. Med. 69: 283, 1968). It has also been our experience that hepatic scintillation scanning in the presence of cirrhosis is of little clinical value and, indeed, often quite misleading.The most striking example of a false-positive liver scan that we have recently encountered was in a patient with hypersplenism secondary to Laennec's cirrhosis.
