Abstract
I read "False Allegations of Sexual Touching by Physicians in the Practice of Pediatrics" in the November 1994 issue with great interest. The final sentence is the point I wish to emphasize: "In our zeal to help and protect abused patients, the potential for the victimization of innocent pediatricians must be appreciated and minimized." I have personally witnessed more than one practitioner who suffered trial by the press (one doctor was vindicated of a felony charge, he later took his own life).
