Abstract
The fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith), was captured in traps baited with virgin females before larvae or eggs were observed on corn plants in Belle Glade, Sanford, and Gainesville, Florida. Adult fall armyworms were active in Belle Glade and Sanford prior to or during mid-March. Adult population peaks were not indicated by traps nearly as well as by observation of larvae in the whorl of young corn plants.
