Abstract

The collinear expansion is demonstrated to fail in the case of the gluon emission from a fast quark produced in eA deep inelastic scattering. In this approximation, the N = 1 rescattering contribution to the gluon spectrum vanishes. It has been shown that the higher-twist approach by X. N. Wang and X. Guo, Nucl. Phys. A 696, 788 (2001) and B. W. Zhang and X. N. Wang, Nucl. Phys. A 720, 429 (2003) based on the collinear expansion is wrong. The nonzero gluon spectrum obtained in those works is a consequence of an unjustified neglect of some important terms in the collinear expansion.
