Abstract

The case report of a fourteen year old boy with failure of rotation of the mid-gut loop associated with abnormal peritoneal bands causing volvulus and intestinal obstruction is presented. A brief resumé of the clinical status of the problem of intestinal rotation is given with a review of the literature. The early diagnosis of these cases can be made easily only if the occurrence of the condition is kept in mind. Early diagnosis together with our present day knowledge of the physiologic requirements, both preoperatively and postoperatively, will render our surgical corrections to be more successful than those of our predecessors.
