Abstract

Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is an effective analysis method to identify and rank the potential failure modes. Since traditional FMEA is inadequate to represent the vagueness in human decisions and evaluations, a new interval valued neutrosophic sets based FMEA method is proposed in this paper. Each parameter is represented by both potential causes of failure score and a corresponding IVN number. The proposed method is presented in 4 steps with its application on an automotive company who wants to prioritize the potential causes of failures in the design process depending on 3 decision maker’s evaluations.
