Abstract

The problems in the boundary between corrosion and corrosion fatigue of hulls are described.The hull failure phases of corrosion, corrosion fatigue and fatigue have been studied extensively in academic and practical points view. The knowledge hitherto gotten for these three failure phases is separately each other.Some failure instances have been pointed out that the hull members of 8 to 15 years old, where fatigue crack is possible to occur in corrosive environment, failed without cracks, but with corrosion wears. in the case of these instances, it can be imaged that corrosion wear speed overcomes micro fatigue crack's propagation speed.Former, the author presented simulation calculation of hull's corrosion and wear. As a sequel of the calculation, the author made up mixed simulation calculation of corrosion with corrosion fatigue crack propagation.The calculation results show the qualitative evidence for the imaged reason why of the instances without fatigue crack, but with corrosion wear.
