Abstract

The paper presents an analytical model for the prediction of multipath fading signal of land mobile satellite (LMS) channels, when non-GEO satellites are used. These satellites introduce a Doppler shift to the received mobile antenna signal, due to the movement with respect to the scatterers and the mobile receiver. The effects of this movement are investigated with reference to the received electric field, the baseband, and the envelope power spectra as a function of the satellite orbital parameters. The predicted power spectrum for the electric field is smooth and finite preserving the well known U-shape, as predicted by previous models, but with different central and limiting frequencies, dependent on the satellite and the mobile relative position.
