Abstract

Drift data obtained during I.G.Y. period for Waltair (17° 43′N 83° 18′E; Geomag. lat. 7° 4′N) has been analysed and it is found that the fading frequency varies linearly with drift speed. The fading frequency is found to be finite even when the drift is zero. The effect of magnetic activity on fading frequency versus drift speed relation, has been studied and it is found that the relation is once again linear on disturbed days. The fading frequency increases in E-region and decreases in F-region on disturbed days compared to quiet days.
