Abstract

Flavin adenine dinucleotide is used as a mediator to reduce cytochrome c, glucose oxidase and methemoglobin and to oxidize ferredoxin on the platinum electrode. Thin layer spectroelectrochemistry allows for precise and simple comparison of these biomacromolecules in the presence or absence of FAD. Their biological activity is not modified by the electrochemical treatment, and electrochemical preparation of reduced or oxidized biomolecule solutions on a preparative scale can be considered.
