Abstract

This is the fifth report of the annual faculty salary survey of the library schools holding American Library Association accreditation. The data show that the size of faculty of the schools has declined over the past five years. In spite of this decline, the new faculty appointments increased in 1977-78. The salaries of newly appointed assistant professors did not increase significantly over the previous years. The largest per cent of salary change was in fiscal year appointments at the professor, associate professor, lecturer, and instructor levels. The latter was a negative change.
