Abstract

The main objective of this case study is to facilitate the understanding of the factors which motivate farmers to adopt different agrifood production systems. More specifically, the study focuses on researching farmers’ motivations, attitudes and problems, concerning the adoption of conventional and organic farming in two rural communities in Greece. Agrifood systems are complex systems made up of intersecting systems and sub-systems; they include relationships between food, farming techniques, economy, health, social development, environmental management and community strength and resilience (Ericksen, 2008; Mills, 2011).
