Abstract

Abstract The hazards associated with disused industrial sites in relation to their potential for reclamation and redevelopment have been discussed with particular reference to derelict gas works. Examples of the nature and degree of chemical contamination of industrial sites, chemical attack on building materials and public health risks have been given and suitable after uses for reclaimed sites have been discussed.
