Abstract

The waste generated in cities has been a factor of study in recent years, but many studies focus on waste from households, and few studies address the waste from employees in their workplaces. The aim of this study was to identify the factors that influence selective collection in the work environment. Although there are many studies on the selective collection, there are few studies on the work environment. The research was exploratory with a quantitative approach via structural equations. The research sample was composed of 122 respondents from a public banking institution located in the city of Brasilia, Federal District, Brazil. The questionnaire was validated with a Cronbach's alpha of 0.89. The analysis showed that the most essential criterion of the study was Subjective Standards (38.6%), in which the interviewees demonstrated that the factor that most influenced them to separate the waste was the support of their families and the direction of the monetary institution.
