Abstract

According to the studies described in this paper, the potentiation of 6PGD in an ultra-violet assay was demonstrated to be due to direct combination of sodium cyanide and the nucleotides. The optimum pH for the assay of 6PGD in vaginal fluid was known to be pH 8.6. Neither rapid loss of 6PGD activity nor the presence of enzyme inhibitors were found to cause the failure of the assay to detect invasive carcinoma or carcinoma in situ. It is suggested that the assay measures an inflammatory response.
