Introduction

In the context of higher education in Malaysia, a noticeable trend of increasing competition can be observed among universities and higher education institutes in attracting both local and international students. Competitive pressure has forced higher educational institutions to identify more competitive marketing strategies in their respective recruitment markets for students recruitment purposes This indicates the importance of International Journal of Academic Research in Progressive Education and Development exploring the attributes that affect students’ intention to study at a university. Taking the above into consideration, the current research focuses on identifying the important factors that are commonly considered by Orang Asli students when choosing an educational institution to further their study at a tertiary level Regarding this matter, it is necessary to understand the background of Orang Asli or indigenous people of Malaysia whereby they are generally described as ethnic minorities that possess unique languages, knowledge systems, and beliefs. Biases in quality of life can be avoided and poverty can be helped through the support of a fair and quality education (Ashta et al, 2009)
