Abstract

The study investigated the “factors influencing effective participation of Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Community Development in Calabar South Local Government Area in Cross River State”. Three null hypothesis were formulated to guide the study. Literature review was carried out based on the variables of the study. The research design adopted for the study was ex-post-facto research design. A sample of one hundred and fifty (150) respondents were drawn from a population of three hundred and fifty (350) respondents. Simple random sampling technique was adopted for the study. The instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire. Independent t-test analysis was employed for data analysis and results tested at .05 level of significance. The result showed that participation of NGOs in poverty reduction, educational activities and HIV/AIDs prevention significantly influenced community development in the study area. Recommendations were made based on the findings of the study.
