Abstract

This study utilizes an in-depth interview and content analysis to examine what factors influence the co-location of public service facilities in rural areas in Taiwan. The review results indicate that seven influential factors, including the increasing the accessibility, saving the construction and management cost, creating diverse activities for residents, condensing sense of community, preserving bio-diversity, reducing pollution emissions, and energy conservation and carbon reduction. The findings can serve as a basic reference for government to plan and manage the public service facilities in rural areas, which is beneficial to achieve the goal of socially harmony construction.
