Abstract

This study aims to investigate the individual factors affecting regional youth unemployment in the TRB1 Region of Turkey, at a micro level. The questionnaire technique was used as a data collection method. Questionnaires designed for youth unemployment were randomly applied to 400 young people in the 15–24 age groups in the TRB1 Region. The data obtained from the surveys were analyzed by logistic regression. As a result of the analysis, it was found that youth with high school, university, and graduate degrees were less likely to be unemployed than those who graduated from secondary school. The probability of being unemployed is lower among young people whose fathers are primary school graduates, whose fathers are secondary school graduates, whose fathers are high school graduates, and whose fathers are university graduates than among those whose fathers are illiterate. In general, young people who trust people are less likely to be unemployed than young people who do not trust people. It was also found that the per capita income of the youth's family had a positive effect on reducing the probability of the youth being unemployed.
