Abstract

Employee job satisfaction gains more importance in their working lives. Influencing factors of job satisfaction are essential for improving the well-being of a large part of our society and high job performance is completely determined by high job satisfaction. Therefore, there is a clear linkage between job satisfaction and job performance. Sri Lankan garment industry offers a considerable number of employment and contributes a lot to bring foreign earnings in to the country. However, it was observed that there are not enough studies carried out to know the job performance of employees in Sri Lankan garment industry. The survey was carried out among the sample of 302 employees comprising executive and non-executive employees. The results show that organizational commitment; salary and benefits; working environment and working condition are not significant predictors of job satisfaction. However, motivation is a significant predictor of job satisfaction.
