Abstract

ABSTRACT China has given priority to the improvement of employment quality as a part of its strategy to make people enjoy a better life. This article aims to analyse factors affecting employment quality in China. Based on the comprehensive employment quality index which is derived by entropy, this article formulates a Spatial Durbin Model (SDM) model to evaluate factors affecting employment quality by using data ranging from 2011 to 2017. It is found that the economic growth is not the only determining factor, and it has different impact on different regions in both direct effect and indirect effect. Other factors such as labour market level, industrial upgrade and open-up policy also have positive and negative impact on employment quality.
