Abstract

The 3-D prestack depth migration method is an essential method for imaging complex structures. In this paper, the factorization prestack depth migration is proposed. The wavefield extrapolation is implemented by the factorization method, which contributes to two explicit processes in the helical coordinate system. One is a sequencing solving process, the other is an anti-sequencing solving process. Wavefield synthesizing is carried out by the stacking of plane wave for different ray parameters. Numerical examples are given both for 2-D Marmousi model and 3-D SEG/EAEG model. The prestack depth migration results show the correctness and good precision of the method in this paper and it can be used to process field data for imaging complex structures.
