Abstract

This study explores the construct validity of the personality disorder scales of the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-II (MCMI-II) through multiple regression procedures employing a sample of 50 individuals seen for clinical evaluation. Individual personality MCMI-II disorder scales are predicted from the eight trait scales of the Gordon Personal Profile-Inventory, a factor analytically derived instrument. Residual MCMI-II scores are predicted from the Desirability and Debasement scales of the MCMI-II to estimate the response bias component of MCMI-II score variance. Present findings are discussed in light of prior correlational research on the MCMI-II employing factorially derived instruments.
