Abstract

The aim of this study is to assess the level of knowledge about factors of biological and social risk students of the School Jose Peralta of Manta, Ecuador, between the ages of 13 and 16 years to show whether knowledge prevent or not the spread of sexually transmitted infections and human immunodeficiency virus (STD / HIV). The global trend of STI / HIV among young people is alarming. This work was carried out by a cross-sectional study and a non-probability sampling was applied by quotas. 22 students were chosen by vulnerable age group. a survey of 10 multiple choice questions where knowledge of STI / HIV, physiological changes, family environment and resumed sexual behavior was applied. As a result it was found that although the level of knowledge of risk factors is remarkably good, this does not prevent students from getting infections. On the other hand, it was evident that the nuclear family is consistent; however, parents spend much more time working environment that children.
