Abstract

Factor Structure of Slovak Adaptation of Attentional Control Scale

Highlights

  • Three items with highest loadings on first component (Table 1) were item 3 (“When I’m working hard on something, I still get distracted by events around me”), item 2 (“When I need to concentrate and solve a problem, I have trouble focusing my attention”) and item 7 (“When trying to focus my attention on something, I have difficulty blocking out distracting thoughts”)

  • Using the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) on an independent sample, we found that from amongst one-factorial and two-factorial orthogonal solutions, the two-factorial model with correlated factors suggested by Principal Component Analysis (PCA) fitted the data best

  • We found a weak correlation between the Shifting subscale and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-T), we did not measure levels of depressive symptoms and so we could not control for their shared variance, which is generally assumed between these two constructs
