Oncology is a branch of medicine focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancers; one of the leading causes of death in the world. Early records of cancer have been found in fossils from mummies in ancient Egypt and are discussed in some ancient manuscripts, attesting to the long history of the condition.
