Abstract

This case study is a companion to the article on page 307, which summarizes research findings related to the impact of parental divorce on children, describes the nature and extent of divorce-education and divorce-mediation interventions designed to minimize the negative consequences children may experience, and presents the potential benefits and drawbacks of directly involving children, rather than parents only, in educational programs or mediation. This case study describes a divorce mediation case that included two school-age children as participants. The mediator successfully adapted and used two family-oriented games as a means of facilitating communication among parties. Family life educators, social workers, counselors, or family mediators may be inspired to adapt these games for use in their own professional endeavors.
