Abstract

There is increasing application of research in the area of mother-infant interaction, and interest in "social interaction" approaches to early language intervention. This article describes a high-risk infant program which is designed to facilitate mothers' use of positive communicative interaction strategies. The various components of the Mother-Infant Communication Project (MICP) model are described, as are the specific communicative strategies targeted by the program, and the intervention techniques which are utilized.
