Abstract

AbstractA method for high dispersion of PtRu nanoparticles (NPs) on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) based on noncovalently functionalized CNTs with dodecylamine (DA) is reported. The process of functionalization of CNTs by DA is simple and can be carried out at room temperature without the use of expensive chemicals or corrosive acids, thus preserving the electronic conductivity and the corrosion resistance of CNTs. PtRu NPs on DA‐functionalized CNTs show much better distribution with no formation of aggregates, higher electrochemically active surface (EAS) area, and higher electrocatalytic activity and stability for the electrooxidation of methanol as compared to that on conventional acid‐oxidized CNTs. magnified image
