Abstract

In this paper, we report the one-dimensional MoWP hybrid nanostructure as an efficient HER electrocatalyst for water splitting. The MoWP hybrid nanowires (NWs) were synthesized via the electrospinning and subsequent phosphating process. Compared with pure MoP or WP NWs, the one dimensional MoWP hybrid electrocatalyst enabled a superior HER activity with an onset overpotential of 131 mV, an overpotential of 230 mV to drive the current density of 10 mA/cm−2, a low Tafel slope of 62 mV/dec and a high exchange current density of 6.622 μA/cm2 in 0.5 mol/L H2SO4. Also, the as-synthesized MoWP hybrid electrocatalyst exhibited an excellent stability.
