Abstract

Abstract Porous hollow silica nanotubes (PHSNTs) were synthesized via a sol–gel route using needle-like CaCO 3 nanoparticles as the inorganic templates. The as-prepared PHSNTs were subsequently employed as a support for immobilization of Ag nanoparticles. By BET, AAS, XRD and UV–VIS, it was found that more Ag was loaded on the PHSNTs when [Ag(NH 3 ) 2 ]NO 3 was adopted as Ag precursor, as compared to AgNO 3 as the precursor.
