Abstract

In this study, CdTe nanoparticles were synthesized via co-precipitation route. The obtained products have been characterized by X-ray powder diffraction pattern, field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The temperature and concentration of precursor effects on the size of CdTe nanoparticles were evaluated. The photocatalytic behavior of CdTe was studied using the degradation of a Rhodamine B and methyl orange in aqueous solution under UV irradiation. It was found that temperature and concentration of precursor have an effect on the degradation of dyes.
