Abstract

In this work, poly(methyl methacrylate)/MoS2 nanocomposites were prepared by a facile emulsion polymerization method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results demonstrated that MoS2 is homogenously dispersed and partially exfoliated in a PMMA matrix. The improvement in thermal stability of the nanocomposites is remarkable with only 1% MoS2 content which is attributed to the physical barrier effect and the charring effect of the MoS2 nanosheets.
