Abstract

Abstract Biomass carbon is favored by many researchers because of its low density and high conductivity. As one of the members, carbonaceous peat moss leaves (CPMLs) were prepared using simple high temperature carbonized process. By tuning the impedance characteristics, magnetic component was introduced and the C/Ni nanohybrids were fabricated by impregnation method. Morphological analysis indicated that the microporous structure of CPMLs was preserved intact and the Ni nanoparticles were uniformly attached to the CPMLs. By adjusting the concentration of Ni(NO3)2 solution, the composite with 40 wt% C/Ni exhibited excellent microwave absorption performance. The minimum RL value was −52 dB at 10.8 GHz with a thickness of 2.4 mm. Meanwhile, the effective absorption bandwidth (RL
