Abstract

SnO2/TiO2 nanorods (TNRs) composite film was successfully fabricated. The results showed that the SnO2 nanoparticles were deposited onto the surface of the TNRs film, and this composite film exhibited excellent light absorption ability. Meanwhile, the SnO2/TNRs composite film exhibited the superior photoelectrochemical performance. With white light illumination, this composite film made the potential of the coupled 304 stainless steel (304SS) in a 0.5 mol·L−1 NaCl solution drop by 240 mV, exhibiting more efficient photocathodic protection (PCP) effect. What’s more, it could provide delay protection for the steel in darkness attributing to the “electron pool” effect of SnO2.
