Abstract
Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanosheets with rich active sites were prepared from bulk MoS2 with simple ultrasonication and gradient centrifugation. The ultrasmall MoS2 nanosheets expose a large fraction of edge sites. Thereafter, a simple electrochemical method for the highly sensitive detection of m-nitrophenol was established, and the linear calibration ranges were 10 to 1500μM with a detection limit of 7μM. The reported exfoliation technique is simple, effective and can be extended to exfoliate various transition metal dichalcogenides.
