Abstract

In this work various morphologies of nickel molybdate (NiMoO4) nanostructures were synthesized via chemical reaction between nickel chloride hexahydrate, ammonium heptamolybdate tetrahydrate and different capping agents like alanine, asparagine, and phenylalanine. The products were also characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV–Vis). Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) was used to study the magnetism properties of NiMoO4 sample. The photocatalytic behavior of nanoparticles was evaluated using the degradation of a methyl orange (MeO) aqueous solution (as an organic pollution) under ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation. The results confirm that nanoparticles are promising materials with excellent performance in photocatalytic applications.
