Abstract

Abstract Two facies were developed in the Argovian-Rauracian (Jurassic) sequence of the Haute-Marne region, France, as a result of differences in depositional conditions created by uplift of the nearby Vosges massif. Formation of coral reefs and oolitic limestones took place in littoral zones; the calcareous marl facies to the west represents deposition in a trough.
