Abstract

I recently had the opportunity to see a peculiar neurologic problem which occurred following measles vaccination. This letter is written to call the attention of other physicians to this apparent complication, to encourage physicians to watch for the complication, and hopefully, to obtain a response from physicians who may have encountered a similar problem. In February 1968, a 14-nlonth-old boy presented with a mild, left lower facial weakness. The weakness had a sudden onset 8 days following vaccination with a live measles virus vaccine (Lirugen), 0.5 cc subcutaneously.
