Abstract

An accurate face location method is introduced for face detection from the color image which has a complex background. Firstly, the method converts the image from the RGB color space to the rgb space. In the rgb space, skin-color features are used to skin-color segmentation and the possible facial area is determined by median and morphological filter. Then, in the YIQ color space, lip-color information is separated according to the lip-color model. The face contour is tracked according to facial features and lip-color information, so that the face area can be precisely located. Finally, the effectiveness of the method is verified in VC++ environment.
