Abstract
AbstractSince nanoparticles are confirmed to have highly sensitive optical properties to their surface morphology, enormous efforts have been devoted to investigate the rare-earth (RE) ions-activated nanophosphors (NPs) owing to their excellent and unique advantages of strong photoluminescence emission, high luminous efficiency, long service time, etc. In recent years, various synthesis strategies have been developed to prepare rare-earth (RE) ions-activated NPs and applied in various advanced applications. In this chapter, some advancements of RE ions-activated luminescent NPs are discussed along with the particular emphasis on morphology, spectral modulation, and nonlinear optical property. Particularly, the advanced applications including NPs-converted white light-emitting diodes, optical nanothermometry based on fluorescence intensity ratio technique, latent fingerprint detection, anti-counterfeiting, and field emission displays were discussed in detail.KeywordsRare-earth ions-activated nanophosphorsMorphologyPhotoluminescence propertiesSynthesis technique
