Abstract

A superhydrophobic coating (POS@EVMT/EP) composed of expanded vermiculite (EVMT), polysiloxane (POS) and epoxy resin (EP) was fabricated on brass by the spraying method, which presented a water contact angle (WCA) of 170° and a water sliding angle (WSA) of 3°. The POS@EVMT/EP coating exhibited good superhydrophobic ability under high temperature, ultrasonic vibration, sandpaper abrasion, adhesive tape peeling, water droplets impact, surface bending as well as acid, alkaline and salt solution. The open circuit potential (OCP) curve and potentiodynamic polarization curve were employed to investigate the corrosion resistance of the superhydrophobic coating, which efficiency reached up to 99.0 %. Moreover, the superhydrophobic coating also possessed ideal icing delay ability (35 min), long-term storage stability (1 year) and UV resistance (120 h), which could satisfy the requirements of practical applications.
