Abstract

W hen adjacent teeth are prepared to receive castgold or porcelain restorations, provisional restoration of these teeth may present a dilemma. A multiunit acrylic resin splint may be convenient to fabricate, but it will be more difficult for the patient to clean. Although nonsplinted restorations are more accessible to interproximal flossing, fabrication of separate adjacent provisional restorations can be tedious. In a conventional technique separate units are formed from a one-piece acrylic resin splint by sectioning through each connector with a disk. It may be necessary to add acrylic resin interproximally, with subsequent finishing and polishing, to reestablish the proximal contact.
