Abstract

Octacalcium phosphate (OCP) demonstrates excellent biocompatibility but has low formability. In this study, we introduced a new fabrication method for OCP block, in which the reaction between CaCO3 powder and H3PO4 chemical reaction is used. Since this reaction could proceed at near body temperature, the OCP blocks could be readily formed, which had enough mechanical strength for bone substitute.
