Abstract

This work is devoted to the treatment of wastewater in an environmental manner, the BiOBr/Ag2WO4 composite photocatalyst was successfully synthesized by loading Ag2WO4 on the surface of BiOBr nanosheets by the method of in situ deposition. This p-n heterojunction photocatalyst has high efficiency in the treatment of simulating dye wastewater under visible light, and it could degrade 98.56% of methylthionine chloride during 30 min. The reaction rate constant of the composite is 62.3 times larger than that of pure BiOBr. The multiple characterization results have shown that the composite photocatalyst has stronger visible light absorption and photocatalytic activity. This is due to the internal electric field formed by the BiOBr/Ag2WO4 heterojunction, which significantly inhibits the complexation of charge carriers.
