Abstract

We have developed a novel laminate-type SOFC stacks that are composed of thin each layers of electrolyte, electrodes and separator since 2005. These layers are prepared by tape casting and screen printing methods and these stacks are monolithically fabricated by simultaneous sintering these layers. We designate these novel stacks or systems as “Printed Fuel Cell”. We successfully fabricated 5-cell stacks that had 1.0-1.5 mm in thick. The stack showed reasonable OCV of more than 5 V at 750-800oC. Power density of the stack was previously lower than expected, but an adequate porosity and gas channel design of cathode much improved the performance.
