Abstract

Interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) are one of the important hybrid polymeric systems with specific peculiarities. IPN based on styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) and poly [methyl methacrylate] (PMMA) has been fabricated by sequential polymerisation technique. The different mechanical properties of IPNs are investigated in detail. The effect of blend ratio on mechanical properties of IPNs is evaluated. Morphological analysis of IPNs through TEM provides clear insight of their component distribution in it. IPN with co-continuous morphological pattern and nanometre sized PMMA domains show better mechanical properties.
