Abstract

NiZn2O4 and NiZn2O4/g-C3N4 nanocomposite samples were successfully prepared by hydrothermal method. The prepared samples were analyzed by different approaches and the energy band gaps for the g-C3N4, NiZn2O4 and NiZn2O4/g-C3N4 samples are 2.72, 3.1 and 2.87 eV respectively. The observed decrease in the energy band gap (Eg) value of prepared NiZn2O4/g-C3N4 extends its superior photocatalytic activity in the visible light region. When compared to the pure NiZn2O4, g-C3N4 sample, the NiZn2O4/g-C3N4 nanocomposite has an excellent degradation ability against the MB dye, with a degradation efficiency of 96.06 % at 180 min under UV– Visible light irradiation.
