Abstract

Flower-like hierarchical ZnO nanostructures (FHZNs) have been successfully obtained through the hydrothermal method at the temperature of 120 °C for 7 h. The as-synthesized FHZNs was characterized by SEM, XRD, EDS, and XPS. Flower-like structure was formed by the simultaneous presence of urea and glycerol. A possible reaction mechanism was proposed based on a range of experiments. It could be described as nucleation, growth and self-assembly of nanosheets. Simultaneously, the photocatalytic properties of the product were also tested.
